What a crazy, random happenstance...!

Almost interesting thing that you may or may not know about me, I've done a lot of research on serial killers. That doesn't mean that I could rattle off the names of victims or tell you anything about the apparent epidemic of serial murder in the 1970s or anything. It just means that I know a lot of general facts about a lot of serial killers, mainly from back in the day. Disasters and murders are always more interesting back-in-the-day, before they had DNA testing and all that.

Anyway! The point of this story is that I came, in a very roundabout way, to know of the existence of a female serial killer whose name I had never heard before. See, at work, I was flipping around TVTropes.org and wasting time, since that's an excellent place to waste time, and I came across a link to an article about 6 horrifying ways that people got rich. H.H. Holmes was on there. I know him. Burke & Hare. And a woman named Belle Gunness.

Digression: Belle only counts as a serial killer in a technical way with me. Just like Aileen Wuornos. I haven't looked into Bell or Belle or whatever her name is yet, but from what I've read so far, she was in it for the money. Same goes for Aileen. The way I see it, to be a real serial killer, you have to do it for the kill itself... or something like that...

So, I come home and AOL is the homepage on my mom's computer, so I'm flipping through their headlines and what should I see but a picture of the selfsame Belle Gunness! Which links to an article about American serial killers! H.H. Holmes was on that list, too, of course. And they put Jack the Ripper on there, because one of the suspects of note is American or whatever.

The point is, the universe wants me to investigate this Belle woman. And probably the other ones that I hadn't heard of yet.

Seriously, though. Killing a bunch of people for their money? That's lame. If you're going to kill a bunch of people, at least do it for a better reason. I mean, come on.
